What do you need to know before joining our amazing club?
When and Where do We Play?
Games
All Beau Rock teams plays in the Bayside and District Netball Association at the Bayside Netball Facility; 11 Holloway Rd, Sandringham.
The main season runs from March to September. Games are generally not played on public holidays or school holidays.
Junior games are played on Saturday starting at 9am with our youngest players and continuing through the different age sections as the day progresses.
Open teams play on Thursday evenings.
In 2024, BDNA moved to new facilities at the Sandringham Secondary College Senior Campus: 11 Holloway Road, Sandringham.
Training
Training is organised individually by each team. Most train at our club training session on Tuesdays at the Holloway Rd Courts, but teams may choose to train at a different time and venue if they wish.
Spring Competition
A second smaller competition is held in fourth term, across October and November. This BDNA competition is not club based, so any group of players can get together, organise a team and play. Teams register directly with Bayside and District Netball Association, not through the club.
What age group am I?
Net Set Go: Grades 1, 2 & 3
Beau Rock does not run a separate Net Set Go program. Our future Beau Rockers can learn the basic skills through the Sandy program.
Net Set Go is a fun, safe and social course for girls and boys of junior primary school age. It is a positive introduction to netball through entertaining games and basic drills. For more information click here.
9 & under and 11 & under: Grades 3, 4 & 5
Grade 3s can learn with Net Set Go or choose to start in a Saturday morning competition.
Competitions at this age may play shorter quarters and have umpires helping to explain rules as the game is played. Their section may or may not have finals.
Young children who show specific strengths at the beginning of a season may develop different strengths as they grow and their ball skills improve. For this reason, children of these age groups should not be directed into rigid positions and will be rotated through all court positions.
12 years and above
BDNA has four different age groups and within those ages, BDNA grade teams according to ability, and to ensure each section remains competitive. Age groups are 13 & under, 15 & under, 18 & under and Open age.
Player age is generally determined as of the 31st December of the current playing year. The Association will also accept children at the same grade at school whose birthday is after December 31st but before May 1st of the following year, to allow friendship/school year groups to play together. Specific age group information can be found in the BDNA bylaws on their resources page.
How much will it cost?
We aim to be affordable
There are only 3 costs for the whole season; uniform, registration and coaching if your team doesn’t have a parent willing to coach. Registration covers games from March to September. No extra money is required for fundraisers, club days or other events.
2025 registration is $270. Uniforms are $65 each. Coaching costs may be an extra $80 if your team pays for a coach.
Registration covers Netball Victoria membership for the year and Beau Rock Club membership. Club Membership covers a preseason coaching clinic, all team equipment, insurance, administration costs, awards and games across seven months.
Beau Rock Netball Club runs a lean program with minimal administration.
This has allowed us to keep member costs lower than most clubs in our association. We aim to continue to do, so but yearly fees will increase over time as required.
Can I join a rep team, learn to coach or become an umpire?
The Rep program is a competition for players who are talented and committed, and wish to take their netball to the next level. It is played on weekdays, in addition to your club commitments. You must play for an affiliated club like Beau Rock in order to qualify as a rep player. For more information on joining the Rep Program click here
We love it when older Beau Rock Players have a passion to coach our younger teams or train to be umpires. Please speak to our president if you wish to become a coach and click here for more information about becoming an umpire. Staying involved in our netball community through advanced teams, umpiring or coaching is hugely beneficial to both the individual and the community.
